Asheville offers significant opportunities for participants to have scheduled daily recreation time during the week and opportunities to experience the myriad of opportunities for adventure around Asheville on the weekend.

Each participant in Asheville House receives a membership in the Asheville YMCA, a state-of-the-art facility that boasts two swimming pools, a weight and exercise room, basketball and racket ball courts.  The Montford Recreation Center is a short walk from Asheville House and has a gym, climbing wall, tennis, and basketball courts.  The daily schedule will include time at one of these facilities to ensure that exercise and health are incorporated into their routine. 

The Asheville area has a thriving arts community, diverse outdoor adventures, a charming and inviting downtown, numerous historic and architectural attractions, and unique shopping options.  Weekends for participants at Asheville House will be filled with adventure activities, visiting local attractions, and enjoying the local culture.

The mountains surrounding Asheville have been described as “the world’s largest amusement park”.  Weekend excursions allow Asheville House residents to slide down natural water slides, ride on winding mountain bike trails, hike through the mountains, experiencing the peace and stunning beauty.  The national forest offers whitewater rafting, hundreds of miles of hiking trails and is consistently rated as one of the top outdoor communities.
